How To Prep For Your Boudoir Session

Updated: Dec 28, 2022

There are a few simple things you want to do before your Boudoir session that you might not think of. Make sure to do all these things to look and feel your absolute best for your boudoir session.

When Booking

The number one thing to think about when picking your session date is when you'll get your monthly subscription to Mother Nature! Our monthly visitor leads to bloating, fatigue, and us women not feeling our sexiest. When you're already feeling exposed, there's no need to add another reason you might feel uncomfortable. However, even if Ms.Flow shows up to our session unexpectedly, we'll still have a blast!

Week Of Session

Hair Removal

Hair removal should be done at least 4 days before your session. You do not want any red bumps on your armpits or private areas showing. I'm not a hair removal specialist, so I recommend asking a professional to help you plan your appointment so that it's early enough for your skin to return to its regular color and texture by your photoshoot.

Water

DRINK LOTS OF WATER!!! I cannot stress this enough! Stay away from any dehydrating products like alcohol and drink water instead. Water does wonders for the body. Do you have chapped lips? Water will fix that. Do you have dry skin? Water will fix that too! Plus, boudoir is a workout, so, trust me, you'll be glad that you hydrated beforehand.

Lotion and Chapstick

Maybe you have a bad habit of not drinking water. Well, then I suggest to lotion up every day and use a good chapstick! You should especially use lotion on your hands, elbow, knees, ankles, and feet! These areas of our bodies get the driest.

Day Of Session

Clothing

To prepare for your session, make sure not to wear any clothing that will create lines or creases on your body. We've all taken our jeans off and seen that they've left red imprints all over our legs and stomach. Jeans, tight bras, or tight underwear are the worst culprits for leaving these unwanted marks. It also takes a while for them to fade away, so make sure to wear loose clothes before your session. I recommend wearing loose sweatpants and an oversized t-shirt or hoodie and going braless if possible until you can change at the studio.

Hair

It's important to come to your photo session with clean hair. You'll be flipping and tousling your hair a lot to get that sexy messy look. Make sure your roots are clean, and if not, use a dry shampoo to take care of any excess oils.

Quick Check List

  • Plan around your cycle

  • Drink lots of water

  • Use plenty of lotion and chapstick

I hope this guide helps you feel prepared and makes you even more excited for our session together!
